Why lymphoedema matters in chronic wound care
Lymphoedema, also spelled lymphedema, can be under-recognised in patients with chronic limb swelling, delayed wound healing, recurrent lower-limb infections or wounds that do not progress as expected. Lymphatic stasis may contribute to persistent swelling, skin changes, inflammation, cellulitis risk and difficulty with wound healing.
The programme describes a session focused on earlier recognition of lymphoedema, its impact on chronic wounds, conservative management principles, multidisciplinary wound care and timely referral for specialist lymphatic assessment when appropriate.
